What is the Hetzner Server Auction?

Hetzner sells used dedicated servers from its own data centers in Falkenstein, Nuremberg and Helsinki at a discount. Each server is a single machine; once someone orders it, it is gone.

When do auction prices drop?

Hetzner lowers the price of an auction server on a timer until someone orders it or it reaches its floor price. Every server here shows when its price drops next; servers with a final price say so.

Is there a setup fee?

Auction servers have no setup fee. Standard Hetzner products usually do; it is shown with the price.

How is a server’s value calculated?

Value is the CPU’s multi-thread benchmark score divided by the monthly price. A higher number means more processing power for each euro or dollar you pay. Memory and storage have their own rankings: sort by cheapest memory or cheapest storage to compare those.

Where do the CPU scores come from?

Each CPU is matched by model name against the PassMark CPU benchmark table. When a model is not in the table, the provider’s own published benchmark is used, and when neither exists the server is listed without a score and is not ranked by value.

How fresh are the prices?

Prices and hardware come from the providers’ public feeds and are read again every few minutes. The page shows when the feeds behind it were last read.

Are prices shown with or without VAT?

Without VAT, as the providers publish them. Turn on “Include VAT” in the filters and set your rate to see what you will be billed.

Can I use this from a script or an AI agent?
